This blog is a Place for me to share my work and my thoughts with friends, whose perceptions of these written words and expressed dreams make them as real as reality will allow. Primarily, this is a zone to share and develop my writing skills in a place where the people I know can see them the way I want to present them.

There are ideas and thoughts shared on this website which, by both design and circumstance, are incomplete. Here lurk facts unchecked, ramblings unruly, T’s uncrossed, I’s un-dotted, and possibly musings less-than-savoury. That is how you and I know they are mine.

I assign no strict obligation to myself to be consistent; I write when I write the way I choose to. I will fill this Place with words that will grow clearer, and ideas that may come true in their own ways on my terms.

That said, the only believable places in the world (yes, even the virtual ones) are the ones that not only have, but is, History. History itself. And as a once-great game studio quoting some dead old men from a faraway land taught us, “the only believable History is Progress.”

This collection (composed of hoarded writings, old and new) is built in stasis. It is an exhibition of words and images approximating the form and content of certain dreams. That is not a Place in itself.

Only when these ideas move more than myself do they generate History, when they are caught in the momentum of the Dialectic. It only becomes a Place with your presence and interaction.

Thus, this is not a Place without You.

This website is as broken as an unassembled puzzle, and fundamentally it will remain incomplete. So while I have written the words, these ideas are only brought to a better life with your interaction. Your presence.

And for that, I am so glad that you are here for this.

About The Writer

Ptolemy

Sometimes goes by “PtolemyXX” online, less-often “Marc-Ptolemy”, and begrudgingly “Marcus.W.Z”. There are more truthful variants of his name for those who know him.

When it isn’t horror, he writes stories diving into Alternate History, Science Fiction, Mid Century Modernism/Futurism, Old Music, Dialectical Materialism, and Hauntology.

And on deliciously cold days, he posts commentaries on recent events, his little discoveries, and his cats’ bad habits.
